The children of Year 6 have recently returned from a superb trip to France and Belgium. Staying at ‘La Ferme Beck’ farm in Bailleul, Northern France, the trip included a busy schedule of learning about the French culture, historical visits and lots of fun activities!
The first day included visiting Tyne Cot Commonwealth Cemetery, the WWI museums of Flanders Field and Passchendale and the WWII Dynamo museum in Dunkirk. All the pupils were very respectful when visiting these places and described how much they learnt about life in WWI and WWII.
There was also time for leisure activities while on the trip with the children visiting Bray Dune beach in Dunkirk as well as having the opportunity to experience Lille’s Accrobranches- a series of obstacles and zip wires spread out around a park.
The final day of the trip was a very special one- the pupils spent the day with their penpals in Ecole Sainte Therese in the beautiful town on Bergues. The pupils and staff were made to feel extremely welcome by our partner school with one child describing the day as… ‘the best day ever… I felt like a celebrity walking in through the gates!’ Our friends from our partner school gave us a tour of their town, shared lunch with us and competed in a sports afternoon.
The trip was certainly one for the pupils to remember and a lovely way to bring their primary school career to a close.
