In literacy, children have been listening to and reading the Incredible Book Eating Boy by Oliver Jeffers. Children have been developing their writing skills using the Write Stuff scheme of work and have so far focused on synonyms, onomatopoeic words, alliteration, adjectives to describe nouns, and adverbs.
As part of the scheme, today’s lesson focused on an experience day, and children took inspiration from the humour packed children’s picture book – Ketchup on my Cornflakes? by Nick Sharratt. Humour comes from mixed sentences by turning a flap in the book i.e. I like jelly / on my head, instead of I like jelly / on my plate. Children then read aloud their favourites in class!
