Year 3 – The Write Stuff – fantasy narrative

Year 3 children have been working so hard in their English lessons and have been learning a phenomenal amount of skills connected to fantasy narrative writing. Children have focused on features of genre and language with the context being the Incredible Book Eating Boy by Oliver Jeffers.

Children have been learning about:

  1. similes and metaphors

  2. comparative and superlatives

  3. inverted commas for speech

  4. extended noun phrases

  5. inner thoughts and feelings

  6. using a variety of punctuation

Children used the Write Stuff narrative map to plan their work and then created their own success criteria.
