Children focused on the theme of ‘growth’ for STEM Week. Children learned how the actions of humans, such as transport, heating and electricity, and food, can have a huge consequence on our planet. We focused on climate change and global warming. Children learned about the term, ‘Greenhouse Effect’ and discussed ways in which we can reduce our carbon footprint. We looked at simple actions such as turning off lights and turning the power off electrical equipment. We then decided to look at the growth of technology and focused on the electrical car. Children produced a bar chart showing types of vehicles and regularity on Heaton Road and the results showed that cars were the most popular. We then used Purple Mash to design a streamlined car powered by the sun.
