Year 3 – Primary Engineering

Year 3 learned about interior design for their first Primary Engineering session this week. Children looked at design programs such as SketchUp and 3-D warehouse and looked at how computing technology and 3-D modelling can be used in the design process. Children then discussed what would be needed for a new property and together they helped in the design process in building a living area and a kitchen.

What is Primary Engineering?

Primary Engineer has developed a range of ways for schools to engage with engineering. At St. Teresa’s, we have had a fantastic response from parents over the years and we have had presentations linked to Civil Engineering (Building roads – A1), interior design in homes, eye specialists, a brain surgeon, structural engineering, sustainability, and many more!

We have also had a few winners of the competition as children get the change to design something that will have a positive impact and change. Last years winner designed an earphone that helps identify stress in the wearer.
