Year 3 – Icky Doo Dah – Simon Murray

Year 3 children had a special visit from Icky Doo Dah author and illustrator Simon Murray this week in celebration of World Book Day 2022. Children listened to Simon read the story aloud and discuss the origins of the Icky Doo Dah character.

Children then focused on art and design skills such as shading and tone to create their own very special version of Icky Doo Dah. If children made a mistake when drawing, they were told to turn the mistake into a spider! A Simon said, “Spiders are a great way to cover up mistakes and create something new!”

Children then finished off the session with a cup of delicious hot chocolate whilst they had some quiet time to read their library book!
