Year 3 – Art and Design

In Art and Design children learned how to make Stone Age inspired clay pinch pots. Pinch pots are the ideal project for beginners to hand-build with clay; perfecting this technique is a fantastic way to start developing clay-craft skills.

Children had an orange-sized ball of clay to begin with and then slammed it on a board ten times to get the air out. Children then used their thumb and index fingers to manipulate the clay into the desired shape. Children also added patterns to their finished design using a variety of different tools.
