A Special Act of Kindness in RE
Year 3 have been part of something truly special this term. As part of their Religious Education lessons with Miss Allen, they have been learning all about the theme of sacrifice during Lent, exploring how acts of kindness and selflessness reflect the values of giving and gratitude.
To put this learning into action, the children created beautifully decorated thank you cards to express their appreciation for the incredible work done by the staff and volunteers at St Oswald’s Hospice. Each card was carefully designed, filled with heartfelt messages, and adorned with creative decorations that showed their understanding of gratitude and compassion.
In response to this thoughtful gesture, St Oswald’s Hospice sent the class a special certificate and even a class medal as a token of appreciation for their kindness. The children were delighted to receive this recognition, reinforcing the importance of showing gratitude and making a difference in the lives of others.
This experience has helped Year 3 connect their learning to real-life actions, demonstrating how even small acts of kindness can have a big impact. It was a wonderful way to live out the values of Lent and truly embrace the spirit of giving!
