Year 1 – Science – Blubber experiment

Children in year 1 investigated how animals keep warm in the winter. Children learned that animals, such as polar bears and seals have a layer of blubber which helps them to stay warm in cold weather.

Pupils then took part in the blubber experiment where one hand was covered with a layer of blubber. Children dipped both hands into cold water for 10 seconds to investigate which one would stay warm.
