Year 1 – Problem Solving – Patterns

Year 1 have started looking at problems involving patterns with shapes, colours and numbers. Children first had to read the problem and identify what they know, what they don’t know and what the question is asking them to do. The children highlighted these in 3 different colours to show to the different parts of the question. Pupils then had the challenge to solve the button problem where there were 3 buttons on a coat but they could be done up in any order. They used different coloured cubes to represent the buttons and recorded down all of the solutions they could find. Super work Year 1!
