Over the last 2 weeks, Year 1 have been recapping and reviewing all of the sounds they learned in Reception. Children have been using their ‘robot arms’ to support them when segmenting and blending unfamiliar words together. On Fridays, pupils work with their table partner to complete a shared read of a phonetically plausible book. Children take it in turn to read each page and are encouraged to use expression throughout! Year 1 have showed fantastic word reading and comprehension skills and are now looking forward to learning their phase 5 sounds in the coming weeks.
