Year 1 – Music – Making a marching band

Year 1 have been listening to Colonel Haithi’s March from The Jungle Book in their music lessons. Children have explored different instruments used in a marching band such as a tuba, a snare drum and a piccolo. Year 1 then kept the beat of the song by marching on the spot and singing ‘1, 2 , 3, 4. Keep it up, 2, 3, 4!’. Once the children were confident at marching at the correct time, they were then given a musical instrument to use in the marching band. The children then marched around the classroom with their instruments and kept in time with the music to create their own marching band.
