This week, Year 3 dived into the world of music with an exciting introduction to the xylophone! The classroom was alive with sounds as the children learned the basics of this fantastic instrument and started putting together some simple tunes.
After a quick demonstration, the children eagerly picked up their mallets and got hands-on with the xylophones. They explored how each bar produces a different note, experimenting with rhythm and melody. It didn’t take long for them to master the basics, playing familiar tunes and even beginning to create a mini composition.
But it wasn’t just about the notes – we also explored the importance of timing, listening, and playing together as a group. The class had a blast working in pairs, taking turns to play short tunes.
By the end of the lesson, some of the children were already creating short melodies, and we’re excited to see how their skills will develop in the weeks to come.
We’re looking forward to more musical fun as the children continue to learn about melody, rhythm, and teamwork in our future lessons.
