In continuous provision, some children chose to write a message to their friend. They had to put their friend’s name at the top of the note, think about what they wanted to say then try to write all of the words. The children could use sound mats to help them when they were unsure of a sound or how a letter looked. After they had finished their message they placed the note in a basket ready for delivery later in the week.
