Reception

What a fun week Reception have had learning through being actively engaged in a range of tasks and activities. Here is a flavour of some of the excellent learning that went on. The children were challenged to create their own conker run. They worked out that they had to raise one end of the channelling equipment so the conkers would run down.

Discussing and exploring what happened when they poured bubbly water through the water play equipment.

The children have been learning about directional language and they decided to make their own autumn maze to find the treasure. They set up the maze and then used direction language to guide each other through the maze to the treasure.

It was very windy this week and our outdoor area was covered in leaves from the trees. The children decided to help the caretaker to clean up and worked in teams to brush the leaves into piles. It was hard work!

The curiosity bowl was filled with interesting vegetables to examine.

The children enjoyed listening to the story Rosie’s Walk and retold it using story stones and drew their own maps.

The children used the Numicon maths equipment to make their own ‘Numicon City.’ They discussed how much each piece of Numicon was worth and how you could put them together to make bigger numbers.

Autumn is a time farmers harvest their crops and the children made scarecrows to keep the birds away. They had to cut out all of the parts and stick them in order to create a scarecrow.
