This week Reception have had a busy week with lots of activities and tasks available during continuous provision. The children enjoyed making fireworks with the Numicon pieces. As they completed the picture they talked about the number each piece represented.
They used oil pastels and chalks to create our own firework pictures and discussed the colours and noises fireworks make.
Our traditional tale for this week is Goldilocks and the Three Bears and some children enjoyed using their phonic knowledge to find the initial sounds to words linked to the story. When the sound was identified a peg was clipped onto it.
The role play area was very popular as the children retold Goldilocks using props and costumes. They sequenced the story and used different voices for the characters.
As it was Halloween this week, the children were keen to do activities linked to so there was pumpkin scooping, Halloween sentence writing, colouring and crafts. Here some of the children are cutting out templates that were made into Halloween cone characters. They were worked well as hats too!
In the outdoor area there was more Goldilocks play as the children used the small world toys to retell the story.
