Maths in Reception

This week the children continued to engage with activities that underline the purpose of counting. To find out ‘how many’ objects altogether. The children played games and accessed activities that reinforced their understanding of cardinality, the last number in the count tell them how many objects.

The children loved playing ‘Simon says’ counting each action, playing speedy fingers and singing the rhyme ‘5 littles peas.’ A focus has been the quickest way to show 5 and learning ‘there are 5 fingers on my hand.’

The children enjoyed learning the ‘high 5’ song from Numberblock 5 and played the high 5 game with their learning partner.
