Reception have been consolidating their understanding of the composition of 5 when one part is not visible. After singing the nursery rhyme ‘5 Kittens bouncing on the Bed’ they played their own version of this in a maths game. One partner closed their eyes whilst the other hid some counters ( which represented kittens) under the bed. Then the other person had to say how many were hiding using a mathematical sentence.
