Exploring ways of making 10

In Reception the children have been exploring ways in which 10 can be composed of two parts. The children played a game where each pair had to represent the composition of 10 using the dice frames. They used the sentences – needs – to make 10 and 10 is made up of – and -, – and – makes 10.

Some children enjoyed playing the game ‘Sausages in the pan.’ In this game the children had 10 sausages (lolly sticks) and they had to make as many variations of making 10 using sausages and burnt sausages.
