Continuous Provision in Reception

Reception have enjoyed starting a new topic ‘Come Outside!’ In forest School the children were asked to work in small groups and collect different leaves and flowers to decorate their crosses for Easter craft. It was wonderful to see how well they worked together and talked about which leaves they wanted to put in their buckets.

In class the children have been learning about parts of plants and their focussed writing was all about the book ‘The Tiny Seed,’ by Eric Carle. They enjoyed cutting and sticking parts of a plant and creating their own flowers.

The children have been learning about numbers that are 1 more and 1 less and numbers that are greater  than, less than and equal.

The farmers market was opened this week and the shop assistants were very busy helping customers, ringing food through the tills and taking payment and giving change and making sure the shop was tidy and the shelves were stocked.

To improve fine motor co-ordination the children had fun hammering golf tees into a variety of vegetables.
